U19s reach the final

Liverpool U19s have reached the final of the National play-offs after a 2-1 victory at Nottingham Forest.

Both Liverpool goals by Mellor.

Liverpool will face Arsenal in the two legged final.

Macedonia 0 Finland 0

Finland coach Kari Ukkonen thanked the team's defense but said that Daniel Sjölund was left alone in the front and therefore Finland didn't have any chances to score a goal. He also picked out a few players that played particularly well: Mathias Lindström, Pekka Lagerblom and Antti Okkonen.

The next match for the Finland U21 team is against Austria in Anjalankoski on May 15th.

Daniel injured :(

Daniel broke his leg at Liverpool training and is now been scheduled a three-month break from training. Hannu Haarala will take his place in the U21 national team (31 August Albania-Finland, 4 September Finland-Greece).

Daniel to join the Finland U18 team for the European Championships

The Finnish Football Association today announced that Liverpool striker Daniel Sjölund will join the Finland U18 team for the European Championships held in Finland 21.-27.7.2001. He was already named as one of the 30 players from which the final 18 players for the team will be chosen before Finland's first game on Saturday 21st but because Liverpool was not eager to let him participate it was not sure if he would be seen in the championships. Sjölund will join the rest of the Finland team later this week in Eerikkilä where the team is preparing for the tournament.
